1. Many of the characters in Siren are influenced by grief. How do

they respond differently to the loss of parents and lovers? Why do you

think some people are corrupted by their pain, while others are

strengthened and made more compassionate?

2. From what we see of the time they have together, would Bogey and

Mak be more compatible than Andy and Mak?

3. Several characters in Siren have lost aspects of their looks to

violence. Is the author making a point about appearances and their

value?

4. How well do you think Mak handled her feelings about the Cavanagh

case?

5. Do you think the decision she makes about the rest of her life in

the closing pages of Siren was the right one? What would you have done?
