A disgraced sommelier inherits a crumbling bakery in Paris from her grandfather where a mysterious monthly delivery of wine contains secrets she’s not ready to uncover about the past and her heart. But when a charming stranger offers to help fix the bakery up, she’s pulled deeper into the cellars that might unlock her future.

After a cheating scandal rocks the Court of Masters, aspiring master sommelier, Aveline Beaulieu, finds her career opportunities drying up. Soon after, the death of the grandmother who raised her leaves her bereft, and the prospect of restoring her family’s old bakery in Paris is the only thing keeping her grounded. Almost as soon as she arrives, a mysterious woman appears with a delivery of wine, claiming it was a service she’d once provided for Aveline’s late grandfather. Before leaving, the wine merchant makes Aveline promise to keep hold of the old building for at least six months, and she will bring a delivery each month, free of charge. It’s soon clear that the intricately carved boxes contain far more than ordinary wine. Somehow each box contains exactly what she needs to move forward past this dark period in her life.

Failed restauranteur Edward Fairbanks, in Paris on a culinary refresher course, has taken an interest in the vacant bakery and offers to help Aveline restore it in exchange for his application receiving priority when the building comes up for lease. Aveline and Edward discover her grandfather had curated a magnificent wine collection in the cellar. The collection is a glimpse into the past of the grandfather she barely knew and a history that is more fraught than she ever imagined. With each discovery in the cellar and every delivery from the wine merchant, she gains a clue into the mystery of her late grandfather’s history that ensnares her and Edward into the heat of a dangerous intrigue that spans more than sixty years and takes her to some of the most beautiful vineyards across France.
